Grand View Garden

This city hotel is approximately 5 km from the centre of Beijing and Tiananmen Square and guests will find Daguanyuan Park right on the hotel's doorstep. The hotel is about 45 minutes from the airport and the South Railway Station is around 10 minutes away by car. The hotel gracefully blends into Beijing's famed scenic attraction which is the hotel's namesake and is a good place for those looking for a bit of peace and quiet in the ever-changing capital. The garden itself was modelled as recently as 1984 on the residence which features in Cao Xueqin's classic Qing Dynasty novel 'The Dream of the Red Chamber'. Although not an antique garden in any respect, the garden, which was completed in 1988, is a good way to gain an insight into ancient Chinese culture. This air-conditioned 383-room hotel welcomes guests into a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, a hotel safe, currency exchange facilities, cloakroom, lift access, a newspaper stand and a hairdressing salon. Guests may also relax in the games room or TV lounge, enjoy a drink in the café or bar or a night out in the disco, and dine in one of the 4 on-site restaurants. Further facilities include Internet access, conference facilities, room and laundry services (fees apply to both), a car park and a bicycle hire service. The rooms in the hotel are all well equipped with a wide range of amenities, including an international direct dial telephone, satellite TV, a minibar/fridge and a safety box. Although the main reason for many to stay in this hotel is to appreciate the garden for those who have read the novel, there are also a number of further facilities. These include an en suite bathroom with shower, bathtub and hairdryer, a double bed, Internet access, tea and coffee making facilities, an ironing set and air conditioning and central heating.
